Connection Between Zoloft and Insomnia

Dear all, Im experiencing the following situation which perhaps some of you can advise me better. History Back in 2005, I experienced a sleep disorder condition that lasted everyday for almost a year. exercising, meditation, melatonin etc, all did not work. I would sleep with ease, but would remember my dreams very clearly and wake up feeling not rested and tired through the day. But after a year of torment, the condition just randomly left me after a year when I started full time work & undergrad studies. Over the years I do still get this problem especially when Im overseas for short / long trips. It seems quite random as sometimes it happens, sometimes it don't. Present The same issue revisited me and its Day 6 already. Same thing, I would go to sleep but having very vivid dreams (not nightmares) and wake up feeling tired / unrested. Been having some trouble sleeping the past few days, one because my neck been hurting me, and 2 the xanax doesnt seem to be working anymore (.5mg) i went to the chiropractor yesterday and he said im not sleeping cause of my neck, and did the adjusment. If however, you take it sporadically (sp) you will find relief. I would get your anti-depressant filled first and see if that helps.. I would at least try the melatonin to see if it might help you sleep. im seeing a nap in my future today well another week with out xanax during the day, but today i feel a lil jumpy so i just took half a xanax, i didnt feel like dealing with it so i just took the pill so it wouldnt get bad. something about these saturdays that just have me jumpy!!! i took a great nap, but again last night seems like i was up all night again, just rolling therapist suggested asking about melatonin, im going to pick up my zoloft rx this morning so i plan on asking the pharmacist, but just wondering if any of you take it for sleep. Just make sure you ask the pharmacist about it, ok?? I take my Lexapro in the morning and take the melatonin about thirty minutes before I go to bed. i also bought melatonin for sleep which i will try tonight instead of the xanax and hopefully that will work pretty good... Hi turkee, I've never combined Melatonin with Zoloft yet I have taken it with prozac. It does help with insomnia although if you take it continually for weeks at a time it may stop working. i got it filled i think i might buy some melatonin, i slept better last night so that was good but im still pretty tired this morning, so i guess it wasnt great sleep. Good luck gurl, hope you get some Z's at night!!! I happen to be one of the weirdos that some meds or herbs seem to work just the opposite on me. I tried Melatonin one time & was up all night long. I now take the tylenol PM or just plain ole benadryl 50mg aa night. thank you for your answersthe xanax used to make me fall asleep, and stay asleep.

Hi This medicine improve your mood, sleep appetite, and energy level and may help restore your interest in daily living. Zoloft is an antidepressant belonging to a group of drugs called SSRIs. Zoloft is used to treat depression, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Antidepressant medications are used to treat a variety of conditions, including depression and other mental/mood disorders. These medications can help prevent suicidal thoughts/attempts and provide other important benefits. However, a small number of people (especially people younger than 25) who take antidepressants for any condition may experience worsening depression, other mental/mood symptoms, or suicidal thoughts/attempts. Therefore, it is very important to talk with the doctor about the risks and benefits of antidepressant medication (especially for people younger than 25), even if treatment is not for a mental/mood condition. Tell the doctor right away if you notice worsening depression/other psychiatric conditions, unusual behavior changes (including possible suicidal thoughts/attempts), or other mental/mood changes (including new/worsening anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, irritability, hostile/angry feelings, impulsive actions, severe restlessness, very rapid speech). Be especially watchful for these symptoms when a new antidepressant is started or when the dose is changed. Show More Sertraline is used to treat depression, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder (social phobia), and a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). This medication may improve your mood, sleep, appetite, and energy level and may help restore your interest in daily living.

I am suffering from insomnia while taking zoloft. Is there a safe.

We've all seen the television commercials for prescription drugs. With their seemingly endless list of side effects, some worse than the condition they purport to treat, they would be funny if they weren't so disturbing. Zoloft is one such medication and has it's own list of side-effects including the one we will discuss today— Zoloft (Sertraline hydrochloride) is prescribed for the treatment of depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorders (PMDD). Studies have demonstrated a link between zoloft and insomnia with about a third of users experiencing symptoms. This was more pronounced among patients being treated for OCD, but less (about 10%) for women being treated for (PMDD). Let's take a look at some of the issues facing Zoloft users. The overwhelming number of patients reported symptoms of insomnia the connection between Zoloft and insomnia is clear. Hi there-I have a 5 month old baby who sleeps well and is absolutely wonderful. I however have just started on Sertraline 50mg for sleep anxiety as of last night (I felt so sedated after 2 hours of taking it at 6pm I feel it's best to continue taking it in the evening? I've heard it can cause insomnia though which is not helping my anxiety at all nor giving me any confidence on relying on this drug-I do hate feeling out of control and atm I see relying on a medication long term as meaning im not able to deal with things by myself-but I need to sort my sleep anxiety out). Anyway short story: 3 years ago I was in a lot of pain over something which left me awake for 2 whole nights in a state of huge anxiety and panic. I took over the course of the second night 4 zopiclone tablets in a desperate bid to sleep and I feel the sedation, panic and the fact I still didn't sleep from that send me a bit crazy-I feared I was never going to sleep again. Dr gave me diazepam which I took and basically over the last 3 years I've had periods where I sleep well for weeks and take no sleep aids, then a bad night will trigger my anxiety and my safety in ensuring I sleep that night and don't repeat the nightmare of staying awake lies in taking sleep aids. When a 2.5mg diazepam tablet doesn't work and my heart is racing/mind racing/stomach churning ive often resorted to 10-12mg plus zopiclone to knock me out.
